Presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu has accused controversial cleric, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka of calling for the resignation or impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari over insecurity because he was denied contracts. Shehu made this known in a series of tweets on his verified official twitter handle. According to Garba Shehu, Mbaka sought an audience with the president and was obliged only to come and demand for contracts. He said “An outsider distilling the avalanche of verbiage, will be surprised that after supporting the president two times to win the presidency, Father Mbaka has made a complete U-turn, preposterously asking President Buhario to resign or be impeached”.
He said Fr. Mbaka’s point of departure was when he came along with three contractors to demand for contracts as compensation for his support for the president. “Father Mbaka asked for a meeting and to the shock of presidential aides, he came accompanied by three contractors. The president graciously allowed them in, and to everyone’s surprise, Father Mbaka asked for contracts as compensation for his support” he tweeted.
Father Mbaka has been in the news following his call for President buhari to resign or impeached for the spate of insecurity that engulfed the country. Nigerians were shocked given Mbaka’s staunch support for President Buhari. The APC national deputy national publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena had earlier threatened to expose Mbaka and report him to Pope Francis. Nabena accused Mbaka of not emulating Jesus Christ who never blamed anyone during times of crisis but prayed to avert calamities. He advised Mbaka to emulate clerics such as Pastor Enoch Adeboye of Redeemed Christian Church and Pastor W.F. Kumuyi of Deeper Christian Life Bible Ministry and as well as other true men of God who will rather fast and pray to avert a crisis rather than threatening the government of the day.
