Embattled Togolese and Tottenham Hotspur striker, Seyi Emmanuel Adebayor (SEA) has finally dumped Christianity for Islam in his quest to find permanent solution to his crumbling football career and family crisis.
In a video posted on YouTube, the former Arsenal star was seen alongside scores of others taking the Shahada, the Islamic creed for declaring belief in the oneness of God and the acceptance of Mohammad as God’s prophet.
Adebayor, who posted a picture of himself alongside members of Young Christian Association (YCA) of Togo who visited his home on July 4, is yet to make any public comments on his latest controversial switch in faith.
The striker endured a poor form last season, spending most of the campaign outside the first team at Totenham due to squabbles with his family members. He spent much of the early summer revealing gory details of the tangle with his mother and siblings. The development forced the club management to grant him special time off to sort out the family problem.
With his future currently unclear, the former Manchester City forward may have decided to embrace Islam as a way out of his predicament.
