A suspected male prison escapee from Edo Prisons, Obehi Ogbeh, has been arrested in Ogun State. Ogbeh, who escaped from White House Custodial Centre in Edo State during the #EndSARS protest last year, was arrested in Ogun State on Tuesday while wandering about.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this on Wednesday in a statement. He said the prisoner was arrested following information received by policemen at the Agbado Divisional Headquarters that a middle-aged man was seen in parts of Agbado and that his looks and conduct were suspicious. He said upon the information, the Divisional Police Officer, Agbado Division, CSP Kehinde Kuranga, detailed his detectives to the area and the man was apprehended.
According to him, the suspect was properly interrogated and he confessed to detectives that he was an inmate of the White House Custodial Centre in Edo State and that he was set free by hoodlums, who attacked the centre during the #EndSARS protest. He further confessed that he relocated to the Agbado area in order to avoid being rearrested,” the PPRO stated.
Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further profiling.
