As part of the commitment of the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) to effectively fight the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello recently undertook a tour of the IDU COVID/19 Isolation and treatment center. The Minister who was accompanied by senior staff of the Health and Human Services and Social Development Secretariats said that the tour was undertaken to reconfirm the functionality of all the COVID-19 Isolation and Treatment Centers in light of the second wave of the pandemic.
On completion of the tour, Malam Bello expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the Health and Human Services Secretariat in the management of the center adding that the facilities in the center are being upgraded to accommodate patients who might require further treatment such as use of oxygen.
Also speaking, the Acting Secretary of the Health and Human Services Secretariat, Dr Muhammed Kawu said that the Center was fully functional as it had in place a 20 bed ward for patients that might require more intensive interventions.
He also revealed that the staff of the center have been fully trained in the management of COVID-19 following the first wave and are being deployed to the center.
Dr Kawu also reminded residents that the second wave of COVID -19 appears to be more severe than the first wave as more patients now require more intensive care just as some have succumbed to the disease. He therefore called on residents to continue to maintain all the preventive measures as released by the relevant health and medical authorities.
