The National Association of Nigerian Students in Sudan has appealed for an immediate evacuation of the Nigerian students that are stuck in the centre of the ongoing war between military and paramilitary that has killed over 270 persons and rendered thousands homeless.
A statement signed by the NANS executive on Wednesday night said Nigerian Students have been stranded in fear with no access to basic needs and equipment and have been facing dangerous threats.
In addition, the letter expressed hope that the call for the rescue of Nigerian students there would be heeded immediately.
It has been Reportedly mnthat thousands of civilians have fled Sudan’s capital and foreign nations are trying to evacuate their citizens, amid a fifth day of fierce fighting.
The statement read, “We write this to the Nigerian Government in respect of the ongoing conflict that has erupted between the Sudan military and paramilitary forces in these past days. The war is particularly deadly drug in Khartoum, the capital city where constant gunfire, explosions and airstrike attacks dominate its vicinity and environs, where a score of Nigerian Students live.
“The Nigerian Students have been stranded in fear with no access tko basic needs equipment and have been facing dangerous threats. We hereby write soliciting and yearning for the Nigerian Government’s intercession to rescue and send for an immediate evacuation of the Nigerian students that are stuck in the centre of the ongoing war.
“We strongly hope that our call for rescue to our dear nation Nigeria will be responded to with immediate effect.”
