Nigeria Professional Football League side Enyimba will hope to build on their match-day one success when they play South African side Orlando Pirates in their second group game of the CAF Confederation Cup on Wednesday (today).
Enyimba who claimed a 2-1 victory over Libyan side Ahli Benghazi on March 10, play Pirates 5:00pm Nigerian time at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, South Africa.
Both sides will be meeting for the third time after meeting twice in the group stage of the CAF Champions League in 2016.
The Buccaneers won 1-0 in South Africa, before holding the People’s Elephant to a goalless draw in the reverse fixture in Nigeria.
This will be Enyimba’s sixth visit to South Africa after, winning once losing twice, with two draws in their last five visits.
Enyimba captain Austin Oladapo said they would give their best against the South Africans.
He said on Monday, “We know how difficult it is playing against South African teams in CAF competitions, so we will give our best to win. They will also be aiming to win at home after recording a goalless draw against ES Setif in Ghana but we will be ready for the game.”
Pirates might be without No.1 goalkeeper, Richard Ofori, who is racing against time to be fit, after being taken off after 15 minutes in their first game against ES Setif last week.
Two-time African champions Enyimba also got a big boost when their NPFL match-day 15 fixture against MFM was postponed by the league body, to allow the Nigerian giants more time to prepare for their clash against the Buccaneers.
Enyimba currently top Group A with three points, while Pirates and ES Setif have just a point, Al Ahly occupy bottom place with no point.
