President Muhammadu Buhari has finally replaced his service chiefs after more than a year they were due for retirement and replacements. According to the Senior Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Femi Adesina who made the disclosure in a tweet Tuesday afternoon, the President has approved the appointment of Maj. Gen. LEO Irabor, as the new Chief of Defence Staff while Maj Gen I. Attahiru was appointed Chief of Army Staff. Rear Admiral A. Z. Gambo was appointed Chief of Naval Staff while Air Vice Marshall I.O. Alao was appointed as the Chief of Air Staff.
The call for the change of baton became deafening after series of disappointing security breaches and deterioration of security situation across the length and breadth of the country. It is expected that with this change, the armed forces will be able to bring in more innovative measures to rein in the situation.
