In keeping with its vision of enriching the lives of customers, leading Telecommunications service provider, Airtel Nigeria, has launched a new roaming service that will enable Airtel customers receive unlimited free incoming calls when roaming in five major countries across five continents.
This service tagged SmartROAM will enable Airtel customers travelling to the United Kingdom, United States of America, United Arab Emirates, South Africa and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, receive calls for free when they roam on preferred partner networks in these countries.
Chief Commercial Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Maurice Newa, explained that the strategic focus for the new roaming service is to ensure a convenient and seamless communication experience for customers when they travel abroad. “We have strategically picked these five locations because of the significant footfall of Nigerians to the locations; a good number of Nigerians miss important calls while abroad, but with the SmartROAM service, roaming has been made simpler and affordable such that our customers’ lineswill always stay on, while they are abroad,” he said.
He explained that at Airtel, they “are always committed to delivering exceptional experience to our customers and the thrust of this initiative is to bring easy and affordable roaming toour customers who travel to any of these five countries”.
According to Newa, the service is currently available when roaming on the following networks: Zain in Saudi Arabia; Cell C and Vodacom in South Africa; Orange and Vodafone in the UK, AT&T in USA and Etisalat in the UAE, adding that more networks will be included in the nearest future.
To activate the SmartROAM service, a customer simply needs to recharge with a minimum of N5, 000 within a calendar month and he/she can enjoy free incoming calls valid for 30 days on the above listed networks/destinations.
Newa also pointed out that “the uniqueness of this product is that it does not require any deposits or subscription fees. The customer can utilize his/her recharge of N5,000 or more to make calls, chat, browse or text, within Nigeria and abroad, while still enjoying the free incoming calls benefit.”
“Single recharges of N5,000 and above or accumulated recharges within a calendar month will qualify a customer to enjoy this service, and all recharge channels i.e. recharge vouchers, electronic recharges, and recharges from online channels including mobile money, ATMs, and banks, are valid for this transaction” he noted.
It will be recalled that the Telco, within the past few weeks launched Airtel SmartTALK and Unliminet Bundles to empower its customers to enjoy pleasurable experiences on the network.
While SmartTALK is a voice based product that offers Nigerians 11 kobo per second call rate to all networks in Nigeria all day, all night, Unliminet Bundle is a 4-in-1 voice, data, SMS and social bundle that offers customers endless access to chat on WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, Blackberry Messenger and Instagram.
