FIFA president Gianni Infantino is expected to attend the opening ceremony of the maiden edition of the Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Football Tournament scheduled to begin Wednesday afternoon (today) at the newly reconstructed Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan Lagos.
Also expected to attend the opening of the six-nation tournament is the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe and Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State; his wife Mrs Sanwo-Olu, Sports Minister Sunday Dare, NFF President Amaju Melvin Pinnick, members of the diplomatic corps, top officials of the Lagos State Government, board members of the NFF, captains of industry and leading stakeholders of the game in Nigeria.
The tournament, organised in honour of Nigeria’s First Lady, Her Excellency, Aisha Buhari will have in attendance hosts, Nigeria, Cameroun, Ghana, South Africa, Mali and Morocco. Reigning African champions Super Falcons of Nigeria will lock horns with Mali in the tournament’s opener.
