Nigerian match officials were conspicuously missing from the list of referees and officials to prosecute the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda. The list was made available by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
A total of 34 referees were selected from 24 African countries for the tournament holding from January 16 to February 7.
Algeria, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa and Sychelles contributed one referees and one assistant referees each, with Nigeria’s group C opponents – Tunisia, Niger and Guinea – all having officials in the championship.
Just like Nigeria, five other CHAN 2016 bound-countries – Morocco, Angola, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Zambia – were sidelined without a single official in the tournament.
A total number of 32 matches will be played at CHAN 2016 in Rwanda.
