Nigeria’s international and Watford FC striker, Jude Odion Ighalo has won the award of English Premier League’s African Player of the month for his goal-scoring exploits in December 2015.
According to a press statement issued by the award organisers, NewAfrican Soccer, the Watford goal-poacher was exceptional during his outing for the newly promoted club that there was “very little need for a shortlist to be announced”.
“Ighalo spent December scoring goals for his team. He scored in all six games played in a packed December schedule of fixtures, including games against Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham. This is a very remarkable feat,” explained NewAfrican Soccer Award Director, Tunde Adelakun.
Ighalo’s December award means that he is the first player win the monthly award twice in one season having also won it last October.
He scored 30 league goals in 2015, more than any other players in the top four tiers of English football.
