Nigerian Army has dismissed Brig-Gen. Mohammed Gambo, Commander of 23 Armoured Brigade Yola, following a midnight invasion of Adamawa Police Headquarters, resulting in numerous deaths.
In November, the former commander mobilised 12 trucks of heavily armed soldiers to invade the headquarters.
Gambo has been replaced by Brig-Gen. Paul Zawaya from the Michika Local Council of Adamawa.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri urged Zawaya to double his efforts in reducing crime rates during his reception with Yola’s new commander on Tuesday.
The governor, concerned about the invasion, tasked the new commander with coordinating with other security agencies to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities in Adamawa.
Fintiri pledged his unwavering support for security organizations in ensuring the state is crime-free, aiming to benefit all citizens.
Zawaya assured the governor that he would do everything possible to ensure security across the state.
