The reinstated Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mallam Habib Abdullahi has officially taken over the leadership of the agency for the second time.
Abdulahi took over from Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero whom he handed over to two months ago.
Recall that in May former President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan removed Abdulahi as the NPA Managing Director and appointed Bayero as his replacement.
At the formal handover ceremony at NPA Headquarters in Lagos, Abdullahi charged staff of the agency to ensure that all hands are on deck to move the organization forward.
The returning MD appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari for his reappointment even as he maintained that destiny can never be changed by anyone. Abdulahi also ascribed his second coming as NPA boss to the handwork of God. “It is the desire of the President who directed that I should be reinstated but it has been destined by God and I will love to beg each and every one of us to see it as such. You cannot fight what God has destined to be but it is a challenge not only to me personally but also to my successor and to all of us. For whatever reasons I am here today, I would also want us to know that it is the will of God,” he stated.
Earlier in his remark, the sacked MD, Ado Bayero said that change was an ongoing process in life even as he called on staff of the agency to put in their best. He also solicited support for his predecessor cum successor.
Ado Bayero added that during his two-month stint at NPA, the organisation was properly managed, noting that there were efficient and reliable hands capable of discharging their duties effectively. He said NPA would continue to exist during and after the present management. He urged workers to contribute their quota for optimal growth.
