Warri Wolves Football Club thrashed El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 5-0 in a rescheduled league game on Sunday to record the biggest win in the Globacom Nigeria Professional Football League this season.
Onyekachi Okafor opened the score line for the Wolves in the 9th minute before completing his brace early in the second half (46th minute), while Michael Egbeta , Azubuike Egwuekwe and Lordson Ichull completed the routing of the visitors in the 28th, 48th and 64th minutes respectively.
The victory took the Warri-based club’s points to 32 in 18 matches and up to the fourth position in the league table, albeit with a game in hand. The Paul Aigbogun- led club could cut table-topping Sunshine Stars/Enyimba’s lead to one and would move into the third place if they pick the maximum points against Kwara United on Wednesday.
El-Kanemi on the other hand dropped three places, from 11th to 14th position after the completion of its 19 games, no thanks to the heavy defeat in Warri.
