The skipper of the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan is currently in Shanghai Pudong China where he would sign a mouth-watering £227,000-a-week deal with Shanghai SIPG.
The deal would make the 29-year-old striker the 8th best-paid footballer in the world. Gyan was already earning £160,000 with Qatari club, Al Ain and declared himself excited about the prospect of the arrival of Nigeria and Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi before the opportunity of playing in China knocked on his door.
In a farewell message to the club fans, Gyan said: “I want to really thank the entire Al Ain club and its fans for the support they have given me in my time here.”
The message posted on Al Ain’s official website read further: “At Al Ain we were able to achieve a lot of things and I tell you this club will remain in my heart forever. It is, however, time to embrace a new challenge and hopefully this new challenge will be as successful or even better than my time here at Al Ain.”
