Chelsea’s bid to beat Manchester City and other title chasers to the 2015 Barclay Premiership League crown received a major boost following a hard-earned 3-2 victory at Hull City on Sunday, March.
The victory which extends the West London club’s gap at the top of the log to six points with a game in hand took a nervy twist when Jose Mourinho side squandered a 2 – 0 lead to allow the host draw level before the break through Ahmed Elmohamady and Adel Hernandez.
Thibaut Courtois performed a breathtaking triple-save from three Hull players, mid-way through the second half to keep the Stamford Bridge club in the game; and the technical bench was on the verge of introducing newly acquired Juan Cuadrado to add bite to the attack in the 77th minute when a William’s pass inside the post found newly introduced Loice Remy to stab it pass Alan McGregor for the winning goal.
With Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United recording emphatic win in their week 30 fixtures, Chelsea came under preasure in its late game against a resilient Hull City side. And at the end of the duration, the three points was all that Mourinho cared for and he believes it has boosted Chelsea’s title quest. “I’m pretty confident. We got what we deserved. We have a six-point lead, one match in hand and eight matches to go for our opponents. They can make 24 points. I believe in my players,” Mourinho declared.
