The Supreme Court has affirmed Ikechi Emenike as the Abia governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election.
The apex court, in a five-member panel led by Tijani Abubakar on Thursday affirmed the judgment of the court of appeal delivered in December 2022.
The appeal court had last December recognized Emenike as the authentic governorship candidate of the APC in Abia State.
The appellate court’s decision however had not gone down well with the respondent, Uche Sampson Ogah, a former Minister of State for Mines and Steel, thereby necessitating his appeal at the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court’s judgment automatically brings closure to the issue of who flies the party’s flag in the coming governorship election in the state through its affirmation of Ikechi Emenike as the authentic candidate.
