Former Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh has joined the call for the inclusion of more home-based players in the team.
Only three local players were included in Super Eagles’ provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Forward Odion Ighalo expressed disappointment with the decision of head coach, Jose Peseiro to name only three home-based players in the squad.
Ighalo opined that the local lads deserve more spots in the squad.
Oliseh has now backed the striker, calling for the injection of more home-based players in the Super Eagles.
“If we had superstars like in the 90’s and early 2000’s playing at the very top world club-sides, champions league, etc, one could understand the absence of home-based in a 406man call-up.
“Haba, dem just want kill everything wey be home-based in favour of football business! Time we acted!!, Oliseh wrote on his X account.
