President Bola Tinubu has reacted to his tripping and falling at the Eagle Square in Abuja on Wednesday, while boarding the parade vehicle during 2024 Democracy Day celebration.
Tinubu, who reacted to the trending videos of his fall at a dinner referred to it as “Swagger”, saying that social media is confused about it, even as he noted that democracy is worth falling for.
It was reported on Wednesday that Tinubu tripped and fell while boarding the parade vehicle at the venue of the 2024 Democracy Day. He was however quickly helped up by his security details and regained his balance and continued with the activities for the day.
The incident, however, drew mixed reactions. #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, on Wednesday said that President Bola Tinubu was an ailing man using Nigeria as a health insurance.
Sowore, also criticised the Presidency and Tinubu’s supporters for comparing the incident with that of US President Joe Biden.
Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President of Nigeria, sympathized with Tinubu, over the incident.
But speaking at a dinner, the president referred to the fall as “Swagger”, saying social media is confused whether he was doing “buga or doing babaringa”.
“Early this morning, I had a swagger and it’s on the social media. They are confused whether I was doing buga or doing babaringa, but it is a day to celebrate democracy while doing dobale for the day. I am a traditional Yoruba boy, I did my dobale,” he said.
