Nigeria now occupies the 43rd position in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday morning. The country now has 681 points as against the previous 680.69; and still occupies seventh position in Africa behind Cape Verde (38/6), Senegal (36/5), Ghana (34/4), Tunisia (29/3), Cote d’Ivoire (24/2) and Algeria (21/1).

While many were not surprised that Germany is still occupying the top spot in the latest FIFA world rankings, some movements up and down the log has raised fresh eye-brows and questions. The most bizarre is the rise of Belgium to the second place, its highest ever FIFA ranking, thus displacing the South American giant, Argentina.

Although, Belgium currently leads Group B in the Euro 2016 qualifying series, many people have placed question marks on its latest advancement in FIFA ranking where France, Spain and England have fallen to 9th, 10th and 15th positions respectively.
