Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe Stare has declared that the state records no fewer than 27 kidnap cases every month. He bemoaned the situation and called for a collective action to nip it in the bud.
The governor said this on Thursday during a visit to the palace of the Mai Tangle in the Billiri Local Government Area of the state to canvass for votes for the All Progressives Congress in the state.
He expressed sadness over the spate of insecurity in Gombe, especially Billiri, calling on the people of the local government “to be security conscious and be your brother’s keeper, in order to collectively fight insecurity, particularly kidnappers where the state records almost 27 cases of kidnap on a monthly basis.”
He also expressed dismay over the cattle rustling in Amtawalam and some cases of kidnapping for ransom in the area, calling on residents to report any suspicious movement to security agencies for prompt response.
