The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, High Chief Ikechi Emenike has comfortably won his polling unit in Umukabia Okpuala.
In the results announced at PU 11 Nkwoegwu Ward, Emenike polled 264 votes while his closest rival, Alex Otti of the Labour Party got five votes.
The PDP flag bearer, Okey Ahiwe polled two votes, Greg Ibe (APGA), two votes while Enyinnaya Nwafor of YPP received one vote.
At PU 005 Umungasi Ohuhu the APC gubernatorial flag bearer also came tops by scoring 63 votes leaving behind LP and YPP candidates with 5 votes each. The PDP candidate got 4 votes to place third while APP polled 2 and AAC 1.
The APC governorship flag bearer had earlier expressed confidence of emerging victorious in the governorship contest after casting his ballot in the morning.
“I’m confident of victory. You can see the mood of voters. We are looking forward to victory by the grace of God by tomorrow,” he said.
Emenike, who cast his vote in polling unit 11 Umukabia Okpuala at exactly 10:13a.m, told journalists that he was happy with the arrangements put on ground by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the voting process was going on smoothly.
“You can see that the BVAS is working well and I’m sure you can see that quite a lot of people are desirous to vote,” he said.
He advised the electoral umpire “to ensure transparency and fairness to everybody”.
