Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, said he is focused on improving his team ahead of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea Bissau in September.
Peseiro led the Eagles to their biggest win in history on Monday when they thrashed minnows Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 in qualifying for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, surpassing a 10-1 triumph over Benin in 1959.
He insists the team will get better under his tutelage even as he praised his players for their efforts in the last two games.
“We achieved our goal of points won, grew as a group and conquered a historical record, always based on fundamental values: team spirit and mutual help.
“We made the Nigerian nation proud. We are focused on improving our work to achieve our goals,” Peseiro wrote Twitter.
The Eagles lead the Group A by six points, two ahead of Guinea-Bissau, who had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Sierra Leone on Monday despite leading 2-0 early in the second half after a brace from Jorginho.
Nigeria join holders Senegal, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Mali and Morocco with two wins from their first two qualifiers, with the next two rounds of matches scheduled for September.
