Players and technical crew of Nigeria’s Super Eagles team B are in confident mood ahead of the second Group C clash against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
The match slated for 2pm Nigerian time on Friday (today) at the Kigali Regional Stadium has been designated a must-win by the Nigerian team so as to make the final match against Guinea a mere formality.
The Sunday Oliseh-led Eagles B will reach the quarter –finals of the 4th African Nations Championship if they secure three points against Tunisia after 4-1 defeat of Niger in the opening match.
Eagles attacking midfielder, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has disclosed that the sing song among his teammates is ‘Tunisia must fall’.
Ibenegbu said the players are 100 percent focused on the Tunisia clash having put behind them the euphoria of Mena thrashing.
“I tell you there is nothing there yet for us to celebrate as we are focused on the second group clash against Tunisia on Friday. Our sing song right now is ‘Tunisia must fall’. They are good side despite the 2-2 draw against Guinea”, the Warri Wolves star player revealed.
“We quite understand that no team in the championship is cheap including the Nigerien side we defeated 4-0 in the first game. We will give the Tunisians maximum respect on the field of play but the whole three points must be ours,” he added.
Oliseh had already assured that the team would improve with every game played, but refused to be drawn on the title quest.
“For me, with these guys, it is easy to work because they are hungry. And because they are hungry, they are always asking questions to get better”, Oliseh said.
“Like I have told you, we will not leave this tournament without a fight and I can say on behalf of them [the players] that it is just the beginning because when they settle, I know that we can actually do better,” he stressed.
