The conveyor belts at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport’s newly opened terminal in Lagos collapsed on Sunday, causing chaos for passengers and airport workers.

The collapse of new conveyor belts caused a crisis for some foreign travellers who arrived and had to retrieve their luggage.

The airport’s airside workers reported a challenging experience in manually loading passenger bags, causing a slowdown in the process.

The Economy also gathered that the newly installed conveyor belts break down almost 30 minutes daily, especially during the peak period.

Early morning flights, especially from the West Coast and Europe to the airport, were affected by the disruption.
