The Flying Eagles travel to face Brazil at the La Plata on Saturday (today) after securing a spot in the round of 16 following their 2-0 stunning win over Italy on Wednesday and head coach Ladan Bosso has hinted about rotating his squad.
A Salim Fago flying header and a Jude Sunday’s added time strike condemned Italy to defeat at the Mendoza Stadium on Wednesday as the Flying Eagles avenged their 2-0 defeat to the Europeans at the 1987 edition of the competition in Chile.
On the back of a 3-2 win over Brazil in their opening game, the Italians were favourites, but the Flying Eagles matched the Europeans in a different manner from their first match against the Dominican Republic, which thrilled Bosso.
Now the gaffer wants to give chances to other players against South American champions Brazil, who walloped debutants Dominican Republic 6-0 Wednesday.
“For now, it is certain that we have qualified from our group with six points, and those players who have not played in the first two matches, I think we have to give them a chance to showcase themselves, we would play a normal game with Brazil, and I think they are beatable” he said.
Boss also heaped praises on his players for sticking to their tactics against Italy, as they recorded their second win at the ongoing U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
“You have seen it, it’s a good thing that we have orientated our boys on how to get the Italians, and we stuck to our tactics. After the first half, we tried to reinforce the team so that if we could not score, we shouldn’t be able to concede, and eventually, it went for us. So, that is a good thing, that the boys are working according to the tactics, and the praise goes to Almighty Allah that we have gotten the victories,” Bosso said.
