What could have been a fatal accident was averted on January 4, 2016, the day workers resumed after the Christmas and New Year holidays, as a truck with an inscription ‘’Kainuwadashenallah’’ carrying 600 bags of fertilizer, with each bag weighing 50kg and 30tonnes fell along Ikorodu Road, Lagos without casualties. The accident which occurred at the early hours of the day resulted in traffic snarl even as officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) and the policemen strived to maintain order.
The haulage company’s manager, Idi Adamu Uguru told The Economy that the truck which took off from Apapa wharf was Kano-bound, but lost control while ascending the bridge opposite Abati Barrack at Ojuelegba as some of the bags hooked the propeller and the break failed, forcing the tyres to roll backward. Nobody sustained injury just as no life was lost, neither was vehicle affected.
