The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has said that preparations are in top gear for Super Eagles’ last Cote d’Ivoire 2024 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe on September 10 in Uyo.
The NFF said, yesterday, that the team would be in camp on September 4 for the game, which is just a formality as the Eagles have already qualified for the biennial championship.
There are speculations that the Super Eagles would be made up mostly by home-based players to give the local players an opportunity to show what they can do and at the same time save the NFF the cost of ferrying about 24 players to the country for the match.
The three-time African champions booked their spot in the 2024 AFCON with a 3-2 defeat of Sierra Leone in their last game of the qualifying series.
Super Eagles Media Officer, Femi Raji, said, yesterday, that the list of players for the match would be out soon. Nigeria is in Group A of the qualifying series with Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.
