Mohammed Abacha has been ousted as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kano by the Court of Appeal.
The High Court’s decision to recognize Abacha as the PDP’s nominee in the state was overturned by the Court of Appeal sitting in Kano on Friday.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which had previously recognized Sadiq Wali, was also directed by the court to maintain his status as a legitimate contender for governor.
Abachi did not have the legal right to contest the primary that produced Wali since he did not vote in the primary, according to Justice Usman Musale, who delivered the judgment anonymously on behalf of a three-person panel.
