An Abia State High Court’s nullification of High Chief Ikechi Emenike’s sweeping victory in the recently held Abia State’s All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship primaries is remarkably ludicrous.
The court reportedly based its ruling on the preposterous ground that Emenike is not a bona fide member of the APC.
For the records, Chief Emenike is demonstrably one of the foremost pioneer chieftains of the APC not only in Abia State but also in the entire South East.
He is known to have been a Buhari ally from the President’s days as the flag bearer of the defunct ANPP, when Emenike ran for governor on that party’s platform almost two decades ago.
It was therefore no surprise that Emenike joined the APC, to be with his old ally, Buhari, in the same party en route to the latter’s successful 2015 Presidential bid.
Since then, Emenike, the winner of the recently concluded APC primaries in Abia State, has remained an immutable party stalwart, serving in numerous capacities to further the party’s growth and spread not only in his home state of Abia but also across the country.
Certainly, justice will be served in no distant time, when the true position of his standing within the party and the state are made known in the ongoing judicial catfight orchestrated by destructive forces within the party.
Abia State deserves true liberation from the dynastic misrule of the past two decades, which Emenike represents and is resolutely fighting for.
