Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed Tuesday on a decline as All share Index (ASI) depreciated 0.19 per cent to close at 303,311.77 points as against 2.3 per cent gained yesterday to close at 30,369.97 basis points.
Market Capitalization also lost N20.2 billion to close at N10.42 trillion as against N234.1 billion gained yesterday to close at N10.44 trillion.
Four of the sectoral indices led by the NSE Insurance Index which appreciated 3.8 per cent to close at 137.97 points were recorded as gainers, against six sectoral decliners topped by the NSE Banking Index which lost one per cent to close at 318.06 points while the NSE ASeM Index remained flat.
Axamansard Insurance Plc, led 19 equity gainers with a 9.79 per cent or 23 kobo appreciation to close at N2.58 followed by Caverton Plc which added 9.42 per cent or 29 kobo to close at N3.37, while Continental Reinsurance increased 9.30 per cent or 8 kobo to close at 94 kobo per share.
Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) gained 4.87 per cent or 22 kobo to close at N4.74 per share while Port Paint Plc gained 4.81 per cent or 18 kobo to close at N3.92 per share.
Conversely, Greif Nigeria Plc (VANLEER) led 29 equity gainers as it depreciated 4.97 per cent or 49 kobo to close at N9.37 per share followed by Union Homes Plc which depreciated 4.91 per cent or 27 kobo to close at N5.23 per share, while PZ Cussons Plc decreased 4.79 per cent or N1.34 to close at N26.65 per share.
Skye Bank Plc lost 4.68 per cent or 11 kobo to close at N2.24 while Wema Bank Plc dropped 4.04 per cent or 4 kobo to close at 95 kobo per share.
Today, Investors exchanged 413.9 million shares worth N2.4 billion in 4,331 deals.
