Glagow Rangers Nigerian stars Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo’s were rated the best players on the pitch during Wednesday’s Europa League final versus Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville.
The Germans ended their 42-year European trophy hoodoo on the night winning 5-4 on penalties, after a gruelling 120 minutes of football ended 1-1.
Aribo, who played as a false nine in Seville, opened the scoring early in the second half but his effort was cancelled out by Colombian forward Rafael Borre to make it 1-1 and take the game into extra-time.
Borre then grabbed the winning spot kick after former Arsenal and Juventus forward, shot straight at Kevin Trapp, in goal for the Eagles.
According to Daily Mail, Calvin Bassey was the best player on the pitch with eight points, while his Super Eagles teammate Aribo and goalkeeper Allan McGregor, who also performed brilliantly, were rated 7.5.
Sky Sports gave Bassey and Aribo eight points each, with John Lundstram, Glen Kamara and Steven Davis all achieving a match rating of seven points, while McGregor had six points.
Scottish Sun named Bassey the best player, and awarded the hardworking defender a match rating of nine. Aribo was second with eight points.
The duo’s performances and ratings also had them nominated for the UEFA Europa League Player of The Week, award alongside Frankfurt’s Trapp and Borre.
Rangers’ next outing will be in the Scottish Cup final against Hearts on Saturday.
No player on the Frankfurt team had as much as seven points, with the highest being 6.5.
