After weeks of secrecy, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) finally unveiled the list of the squad that will battle against Nigeria in the two-legged Qatar 2022 World Cup play-off on March 25 and 29.
Ghana’s interim coach Otto Addo named a 27-man squad for the Black Stars’ upcoming game against Nigeria.
The goalkeepers invited include JoojoWollacott, Abdul ManafNurudeen, and Richard Ofori. Club Brugge defender Denis Odoi has also been handed a debut call-up and joins Andy Yiadom, Gideon Mensah, Alexander Djiku, and Joseph Aidoo as the defenders invited.
In midfield, Addo has called up Baba Iddrisu, Edmund Addo, Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey, and Daniel Kofi Kyereh
AS Roma starlet Felix Afena-Gyan has also been handed a debut call-up and will compete against fellow forwards Christopher Antwi-Adjei and KwasiWriedt.
Meanwhile, Jordan Ayew has also been named in the squad despite returning a positive COVID-19 test at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
For the meantime, the Black Stars yesterday arrived in Kumasi, the venue of the match as more players joined the team.
On Monday in Accra, a few players with the coaching crew led by Coach Addo had a closed-door training session.
The team held an intensified training session later yesterday as coach Addo and his deputies aim to secure a win from the home game.
The first leg of the World Cup playoff game is scheduled for Friday, March 25, 2022, while the second leg will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
