To ensure that the Cape Coast Stadium is in good shape for Nigeria, Ghana Qatar 2022 World Cup Play-Off this month, a FIFA delegation is expected to inspect the edifice ahead of the first leg on March 25.

According to Kumasi-based Akoma FM, the FIFA delegation will arrive for inspection of the Cape Coast Stadium this week.

The pitch of the stadium has been in a bad state after the celebration of the country’s 65th Independence Day just early this month and the highest ruling sports body in Ghana, National Sports Authority (NSA) has declared the edifice ready to host the all-important tie on March 25.

The report of the FIFA delegation would determine whether the venue would host the match or it will be moved to a neutral venue before March 25.

According to the Director of NSA, Peter Twumasi, the pitch and other facilities at the venue are in good shape and was ready to host the match.

“Our men have been on the ground for the past one week in an effort to ensure that we host the game under pleasant circumstances. We have given special attention to the turf; watering and carrying other essential works on it,” the NSA boss said after the inspection of the stadium at the weekend.

“As we speak now, I can confidently tell you that the pitch especially is 100 percent ready for the game. Floodlights are working very well and there are other measures in place to power them when the unexpected occurs,” Twumasi added.
