Chelsea legend, Paulo Ferreira, has decided to leave the club and move back to Portugal.

Paulo Ferreira has left his role as loan player technical coach at Chelsea, Football London reports.

Ferreira is now heading back to his native Portugal so as to be closer to his family.

He started managing Chelsea’s loan players after nine years of playing for the West London club.

His decision is coming at a time when Chelsea is currently being rocked by owner Roman Abramovich’s decision to sell the club he has owned for 19 years.

Ferreira’s decision, however, is understood not to be connected to Abramovich’s pending sale of Chelsea.

Recall that Abramovich is seeking a quick sale of the Blues amid increased scrutiny on his position following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Reports had emerged that the Russian billionaire could complete a sale as early as Monday, with a Swiss-American consortium confident of agreeing on a deal over the weekend.
