A commercial bus caught fire on Saturday, July 11, opposite Oriental Hotel, Lekki Expressway. The driver was helpless as there was nothing he could do to put out the fire. It took the intervention of workers at the hotel and policemen attached to the toll gate who came with fire extinguisher to put out the fire. Efforts to speak with the driver proved abortive as he was speechless.
No one was injured as all the passengers escaped before the fire-outbreak. The government has stressed the need for motorists to have fire-extinguishers, but only few comply with the directive.
