Nigeria’s military authorities have assured the people of Zaki Biam who fled their homes after an armed gang ambushed and killed a soldier and policeman recently of no reprisal attack on the community as being rumoured.

The military authorities say they are making every effort to arrest  the armed gang who have been operating in the area before the incidence.  They assured that no civilian would be unduly harassed.

Maj. Gen Chris Olukolade, Nigerian Defence spokesperson, notes that there has been apprehension in the community following the incidence .

He urges the people to return to their homes and begin normal activities.

An armed gang identified as Gana, which has been  operating along Zaki-biam/Katsina Ala Road, had attacked military troops on patrol who had responded to a distress call from civilians in the town on June 9.

The gang also made away with a number of items. Olukolade adds that normalcy has been restored.
