CHIBIK GIRLS-1

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said that his government would be willing to negotiate with Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram to secure the release of the over 200  abducted girls of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.

Buhari made the startling disclosure while fielding questions with CNN’s Christine Amanpour in New York, United States. “If we are convinced that we can have the girls, why not, we can negotiate. Our goal is to have the girls. We will ask them what they want and we can free the girls; return them to their school; unite them with their parents and rehabilitate them, so, they can live a normal life,” Buhari said.

The former military head of state, however insisted that such negotiations must be handled with tact to avoid dealing with wrong people. “We have to be careful about the credibility of various Boko Haram groups. You need to be careful that you are talking to the right group,” he said.
