The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Disciplinary Committee says it has cleared Super Eagles players Vincent Enyeama (Super Eagles captain and first choice goal keeper) and Ogenyi Onazi (Super Eagles productive midfielder) from further punishment over their misconduct issues during the last AFcon qualifiers last month.

Chairman of NFF Disciplinary Committee, Barrister Chris Greens made the disclosure after the unveiling ceremony of the new Super Eagles Coach Sunday Oliseh at the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday. “The fact that the NFF had been silent after the panel sat and looked into his case means that he has been forgiven and he’s now free to play for the Super Eagles,” he explained.

Enyeama, 32, angered the NFF with his controversial statements claiming that Kaduna state was not safe to host the 2017 AFCON qualifiers between Nigeria and Chad, and his subsequent refusal to respond to official query issued to him over the matter.

Onazi, on the other hand, was fined by the football authority over his poor conduct during the tie which earned him a straight red card and two match-ban. Both players reportedly communicated their apologies and commitment to the national team to the football authority and the NFF Disciplinary panel has now confirmed that they have been forgiven.

“Enyeama’s case has been looked into and he has been cleared and can go ahead to lead the Eagles in the next match of the 2017 AFCON qualifiers,’ Green disclosed.

‘Ogenyi Onazi’s $5,000 fine has been waived and he has also been cleared to play for the Eagles after serving out his two game ban,” he confirmed.
