Malamistated this following insinuations, among which was that, President Muhammadu Buhari was afraid of taking the Halliburton and Siemens cases because the key suspects were top military leaders.

The minister said that it was wrong toreach the conclusion that the Halliburton and Siemens scandals had been swept under the carpet, stressing that thepresent administration has zero tolerance for corruption and would, therefore, not close any criminal case.

Although the culprits in the Halliburton and Siemens scandals are cooling their heel in jail in the United States and Germany, no one has been arrested or questioned in Nigeria. The country lost over $182 million to the Halliburton corruption case alone.
