Cameroon's oil production

Cameroon’s oil production has hit 100,000 barrels per day and is expected to hit 57 million tons in 2016 up from 27.5 million in 2014, according to state oil firm, Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH).

According to the official energy firm, oil production in the Central African country has been on the rise lately due to new oil wells and discovery of new deposits. And the country has seen its production rose by about 14 percent in the first quarters of 2015, compared to Quarter 1, 2014.

Similarly, gas production in Cameroon rose by 4.77% in Q1 2015 compared with the same period last year. “Gas production between January and April 2015 stood at 4,548.60 million cubic feet (129 million cubic metres: MMcm), a rise of 4.77% from last year’s output,” SNH board chairman, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh said.

Cameroon’s oil production had attained 186,000bpd in the ’80s before dropping to below 80,000bpd in recent years and it is expected to maintain a steady rise, putting the country on the league of oil and gas production competitor in the axis.
