The management of the Bayelsa United has sacked Coach Solomon Ogbeide and his coaching staff barely after eight rounds of matches in the current campaign.

Though, no official statement has been released, inside sources say the sack which came on the heels of the club’s unimpressive two-all draw against Dolphins on Sunday and poor run of league results so far.

Bayelsa United has played eight league games, won one, drew four and lost three, scoring five goals and conceding nine with a minus four goal difference. And the seven points it has amassed so far was considered not good enough by the club management and the Bayelsa State government. “You can see from the position of the club on the league table (16th) and the inability of the team to win its home matches so far that something is wrong with the Coach Ogbeide experiment and the club cannot fold its arms and watch the team relegated before taking action, ” the source who spoke under anonymity to press declared.

George Ederekumoh and Samke Nyanabofa have been drafted to hold forth with the coaching assignment until further notice.

Ogbeide has become the first coach to lose his job in the Globacom NPFL 2014/2015 season.

Frequent hiring and firing of coaches has remained a notorious signature of the Nigerian football league blamed largely on loose contracts and club management style.
