Guadiola summer quit notice sparks tripartite tussle

GuadiolaPep Guardiola’s plan to quit Bayern Munich at the end of season has reportedly put three top English Premier League clubs, Manchester United, Chelsea and Man City on red alert. Guardiola who has been in charge at Bayern Munich since 2013, winning Bundesliga titles back-to-back is expected to leave the Alianz Arena this summer when his current contract expires and the race to land the Spaniard has taken a tripartite dimension in EPL.

The former Barcelona coach, who is the most sought-after manager around Europe, triggered the alarm bell when he declared after Bayern’s Darmstadt victory on Tuesday night that he will give ‘clarity’ over
his expiring contract and future next week. “Tonight, I have no answer. Next week there will be clarity,” he said.

Expectedly, the news will be of significance to Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City, who are currently surveying the managerial landscape amid doubts over their current bosses. Although, both managers at the two Manchester Clubs are not under immediate threat of sack, as their Chelsea counterpart whose future at the Stamford Bridge is still hanging on a thread, there are strong indications that a managerial reshuffle are on the cards, except both are able to win titles.

Should Mourinho survive sack this week and hang on to his job till the end of the season, availability of Guadiola could force Roman Abramovic to dispense with Mourinho whose controversies had contributed to the club’s poor run of form this term.
