In an epic interview that has further confirmed the fears of the Igbo and what appears to be their fate at the end of Buhari’s tenure,
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has stated, rather technically, that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is not looking for an Igbo president in 2023.

The Imo state governor dismissed reports that the ruling party is working to zone the 2023 presidential election ticket to the southeast zone.

Speaking in an interview on Friday, Uzodinma disclosed that the APC is looking for a president that would be for all Nigerians.

The governor was responding to a question if the APC would give its ticket to the Southeast region as many people in the zone are clamouring for.

“We are not looking for an Igbo President. We are looking for a President of Nigeria,” Uzodinma said. We as a party APC believe what we are practicing here is partisan democracy and every politician must be loyal to his party.

“At the end of the day it is the decision of the party that you belong to that will matter.”

In a related report, a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff, has revealed where President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor can come from.

The former governor of Borno state disclosed that Nigeria’s next president can come from any part of the country as long it is the will of the people.

Sheriff made this known on Thursday when a group within the APC made him its patron at an event in Abuja.

He stated that Nigeria can be better until the citizens believe that they are equal and a good leader can emerge from any part of the country.

The APC chieftain asked Nigerians to put their political, religious, and ethnic differences aside and look for good leaders from anywhere in the country.
