John Mike Obi

Nigeria’s international and Chelsea FC of England midfielder, John Obi Mikel has reportedly held secret talks with Fenerbahce over a potential summer switch to the Turkish club.

According to sources in England, Fenerbahce sporting director Giuliano Terraneo held talks with Mikel during his recent trip to London and is hopeful of pushing through a deal.

Fenerbahce will be playing Champions League football next season and that could be a big pull for Mikel, who would also relish the chance to play regular first-team football.

The Instanbul side have already snapped up Nani from Manchester United and could also land Reds striker Robin van Persie, showing their ambition for the season ahead.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho would also be happy to cash in at the right price, and use the money to fortify his midfield with another marquee signing, possibly Juventus and French sensational midfielder, Paul Pogba.

Fenerbahce could face competition from arch rivals Galatasaray, who are also reported to be keeping tabs on Mikel’s situation at Stamford Bridge.
